Today is the First “ME” Monday!
I wanted to give you “momentum” to your week by giving you tools and strategies you can use to make reaching your goals that much easier.
I will be sharing with you what “I” do and use to reach my goals! I get asked all the time questions like the one below, so I thought why not share it with my followers, loyal readers, and clients? Then EVERYONE can benefit.
I hope you like it:-)
Today I’m sharing with you 5 snacks I use to eat well, stay energized, easy to implement, and help keep my going through my busy day.
I like to keep it simple, easy, and convenient. That way when I get busy I don’t make poor choices.
So, here is my TOP 5 snacks I eat all the time…
1. Dale’s Raw Bars. I have one in my purse all the time. They are healthy (unlike 95% of the so-called Protein Bar’s out there) and holds me over when I need it most. Click Here, to learn more about them.
2. Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Snack Packs & a Ziplock of Veggies. These are quick and easy. I can eat it quickly and get a huge energy punch during my day.
3. Chia Pods: Almond milk, Chia seeds, vanilla. They come in these little containers and even supply a spoon. I like things that don’t make a mess in my car when I’m on the go. These rock! you can find them at Nutrition Smart and Wholefoods.
4. 1-2 Hard Boiled Eggs with 12 almonds or walnuts. Super easy to eat and the protein and healthy fats hold me over. I carry a cooler in my car 5 days a week. Makes it easy to eat healthy and stay on track.
5. NanoMeal - It is great quality vanilla bean protein with greens and omega 3′s all in one little packet. These are so awesome when I’m traveling. Just add water! They taste good as well. If you interested in getting a 10-pack, contact me as I have them in-house and in stock. Love them! We actually do a 10-Day Challenge, where you drink one every day for 10 days and people rave on how great they feel.
I hope you enjoyed my FIRST “Me” Monday designed to help give you momentum out of the gate early in the week.
If you haven’t check out our studio in a long time, be sure to check out all the new programs and new times and days.
See you there!

Another Tool To Help you lose weight…

What do you eat when you have only 15 minutes to walk out the door but just woke up?

What happens when you don’t have enough time to make a lunch to bring to work?

What happens when you simply aren’t in the mood to cook?

The answer for most of us, unfortunately, is to skip the meal, make a frozen pizza or TV dinner, or go out and buy fast food.

AND THAT SUCKS (sorry, stinks).

I have been sampling (along with my hubby) and working with the CEO and his team of Meal Movement. I am pretty impressed.

Fitting great nutrition into your life can be easy, fast, affordable, and surprisingly, it taste good, too!

I know everyone is unable to purchase organic foods, I have to be real. I still feel they are BEST for you. But, I always talk about good, better, best and Meal Movement offers NATURAL lean proteins and vegetables. Not full of chemicals and preservatives (you know that is my favorite – lol). So, it might just be the next best thing to organic food.

I have been very happy with their business and what they believe in. We all want to eat healthier, but in today’s world most of us want and need it quick. This is a great solution for…

  • On the go people
  • People who live alone and don’t want to cook a bunch a food just for themselves
  • Someone trying to create better eating habits
  • Busy mom’s and dad’s
  • People with not a lot of time period
  • Sick of the Diets out there
  • Don’t want to eat out of a box that can sit on their shelves at home for 6 months and it is STILL good to eat
  • People who have tried everything and it hasn’t worked
  • And MORE!

This is what it looks like DELIVER to YOUR door…

1. When you’re done eating move from the table, so you don’t eat more!

2. Be careful standing around a snack table.

3. Use a smaller dish/plate.

4. Make sure you have ½ a plate of healthy foods.

5. Throw away your plate when you done eating. You can always get another one later.

6. Drink alcohol and sugar drinks (including soda) in moderation. Drink water in between each!

7. Take a bite and if it doesn’t taste” really good” – DON’T EAT IT! Make sure it’s calorie worthy!

8. Small indulges. Have a little!

9. Share! Split a small treat with someone else. Half the calories!

10. Keep the healthy foods and send others home with the REST!

11. Eat something before you go or if you’re cooking eat before, too. Going or eating starved will make you overeat.

12. Workout at some point during the day – Boot Camp 9am Lutz or other scheduled times through the holiday.

13. Drink plenty of water!

14. Bring something healthy to the party that you like.

15. Perform the following exercises 45 minutes to an hour BEFORE your dinner and AFTER your dinner within 1.5 hours, you’ll increase your metabolism and bit. 50 jumping jacks, 25 jump squats, 25 push-ups, 25 burpees, 25 push-ups, and end with 50 jumping jacks. Warm up first and cool down and the end. This will take you under 15 minutes!

16. Moderation is key!

17. Remember the true meaning of the holidays (it’s not the food)!

There you have it! Print this out and READ REGULARLY!

Be strict to your goals. But remember if you slip up…STOP and just MOVE FORWARD!

Thank you SO much for being a part of my life and the Get A Grip Family! You’re the best people in the world and I’m very thankful today and always!

Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Families!

This is one person who truly amazes me. One of Shawna's children has a very rare disability and requires a lot of attention and is in and out the hospital more often than not. As long as I have known Shawna, she has never complained about it once. The only reason I know about her challenges, is because of our friendship and asking her what is going on. She is an awesome mom and she always sees the glass as half full. She does awesome at camp and I'm glad to have the opportunity to work with her and her spirit!  If her story doesn't inspire I don't know what will.

Most of the time I do not use my son’s disability as an excuse for anything. One aspect of my life however was greatly changed by him and his condition and that is my weight. After 18 months of being in and out of the hospital with him I had put on about 20 pounds. I am a stress eater and it doesn’t help that the local children’s hospital has a free snack bar in the hallway loaded with all kinds of junk food.  When his health began to stabilize I wanted to get back in shape but couldn’t figure out how to go about this with two kids. That is when I saw a Groupon for Carrie’s boot camp. I asked around to a few of my friends but no one else seemed interested in getting up to work out at 6am. I thought about it for the day and the more I did the more excited I got about it. I purchased the Groupon and started that next Monday.

Everyone at the camp was so welcoming and although I was not able to keep up I never felt intimidated. I slowly built strength and soon I was really starting to see some inches come off. Then I found out I was pregnant. The first few weeks I sat out due to morning sickness (which lasted all day and night) but I was very excited to get back to it as soon as I felt better. Carrie was able to modify the workouts to make it safe for me and the baby. During this pregnancy I only gained 10 pounds! Six weeks after delivery I was back at camp and now three months later I weigh 10 pounds less then when I got pregnant!

When someone tells me they don’t have time to work out I get very passionate and immediately disagree, everyone has time. If you want to be in shape bad enough you will make time. As for me, the only time I could find was first thing in the morning when my family was still asleep. I love the time to be Shawna and not Mom for three hours a week. I have met some of the nicest people who hold me accountable for showing up (thanks Lucy!)

I always tell Carrie that I have a love-hate relationship with her. I hate the things she makes us do but I love her for her continued encouragement, support during the tough times we still have with my son, but most importantly I love what her workouts have been able to do for my health and my body. I know by continuing my boot camp workouts with Carrie I will be strong enough both mentally and physically to care for my children. I’m setting an example for my kids that I value myself enough to find the time to workout. I’m proud of myself and I’m so happy I make the decision each Monday, Wednesday and Friday to get up and get moving!

I was approached back in April by a dear friend of mine about holding a clothing drive to benefit Dress for Success of Tampa Bay. I didn't want to just tell people to bring clothes to the studio on "x' day. I wanted it to be something more!

I came up with an idea to do a Couple's Body Transformation, where they wear the clothing they were going to grow out of and donate to the clothing drive at the end of the contest because it on longer fit! I figured with the couple's transformation they would have an additional accountability (they won't want to let their partners down) and I gave away a cash prize of $400.00 (this is where the motivation came in). I also decided to give away one free month of boot camp to 3 teams for other milestones to give them more opportunities to win.

I wanted a win-win situation. Whether they won a prize or not they would have some successes with getting closer to their goals and Dress for Success would walk away with a ton of clothes!

The final day of the contest, the contestants did their assessments gave their donations and others took advantage of the drop off as well. We had my dear friend, Suzanne Neff (on the board of Dress for Success of Tampa Bay) gave a presentation about the benefits of their program and how every little bit helps! We were very happy to pack her truck. Everyone was SO generous! Thank you again everyone!

It was a great SUCCESS!

I am very proud of everyone who participated and there wasn't one person who didn't show some kind of improvement. It was a HIT!
