It is so crazy how time flies. Deb just hit her 2 year mark at Get A Grip! Although I feel like I’ve known her forever it still blows me away how fast time goes by. Deb has always been my biggest fan. To watch her at work makes me laugh. A new person would attend boot camp and she would introduce herself and talk about how great the program was. No need for me to sell myself with Deb around. I would sit back a smile.

She is so many things; funny, dynamic, very generous, kind, goofy, a blast to be with, and a dear friend now. And that’s not all; she’s determined, dedicated, and incredibility full of positive energy. She’s been through so much in the last year and still so positive. One thing people can learn from her is that no matter what is going on around you, one of the most important things you can do for yourself is to continue to take care of yourself (so, you can help take care of others) and surround yourself with others how support you and will help you through anything.

I love having her apart of Get A Grip and it wouldn’t be the same without her.

I don’t want to steal her story, so here it is…

My first year with Get A Grip was about me becoming physically healthy.  In February of 2010, I came across a Groupon for one month of “boot camp” with Carrie Kukuda.  I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and was looking for a workout that would get me out of the house, so I figured “what the hell” and decided to see what happened; well, I fell in love with boot camp and with Carrie.  Within 6 months I was off all my meds for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  Not only was I taking control of my health I was also physically becoming stronger.

My second year was mostly about my emotional strength.  People in crisis seem to slack off, find excuses to eat unhealthy and get lazy. I am here to tell you – exercise was the best for me.  I can’t imagine how many push-ups and mountain climbers I beat the hell out of.  My best friend of 25 years was diagnosed with cancer and it was not looking good as far as her survival.  I needed the support from my boot camp family and they were there for me 100% – any time day or night. I don’t think I would have been in such good health and shape had it not been for Carrie and everyone at Get A Grip.

Get A Grip has become a family to me.  Not only has Carrie been inspiring, but we girls at boot camp keep each other accountable for our excuses, and as we all know there are NO EXCUSES!!!  With two years under my belt, I am now both physically and emotionally healthy; with the support at Get A Grip, I know that this year, I will be the best me that I can be!  Weeeeeeee!  XOXO
